Electric machines use electricity to turn a crank that mixes the ingredients and churns the ice cream. Manual crank machines use hand cranks to mix and churn the ice cream. They’re more expensive than electric machines. They are also easier to use. 

Some people prefer automatic spinners. Spinners use an electric motor to turn a blade that chops the ice cream mixture and produces smooth, creamy ice cream. Automatic spinners are great for people who have trouble mixing their own ice cream or who just want something simple to operate.

This recipe is for a basic homemade honeycomb ice cream. You’ll need an ice cream maker and either: regular honey, cornstarch, or tapioca starch (in addition to the eggs). These ingredients can be found most grocery stores, pharmacies, and even some large chains like Trader Joe’s. What you’ll also need is a blender or food processor.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 cup granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Pinch of salt

2 cups whole milk (or light cream)

1/2 cup honey 

1 tablespoon vanilla extract 

Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter an 8×8 inch baking dish and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of the sugar. Beat the butter and remaining sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk

Ingredients:

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup milk

2 cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

3 tablespoons honey

1/2 cup cornstarch

Directions: 

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. 

2) In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. The sugar has completely dissolved. 

3) Whisk together the egg yolk and honey in a small bowl. Pour the mixture into the pan, and cook for about 7 minutes. 

4) Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water. The custard has thickened, pour it into the bowl with the cornstarch mixture. Stir constantly until well blended. 

5) Pour the custard into the prepared baking dish, and freeze for at least 3 hours or overnight. It is cut into 16 squares before serving. Enjoy!
